Here’s a few pics from our in-store with Mike Posner & Emanon Dance Crew. Overall it was an amazing event with great people, good food & of course great music. Emanon killed it with a very entertaining dance performance which included a special choreographed dance routine specifically for Mike Posner. Some of the likes who also came thru included Medaphoar, WildChild, Mikiwar from The MikiDz Show, Tino Cochino, Epsilon Project, DJ Relyt (holding down the decks) & TLR Clothing/LA Mrkt. Summer is officially here!

Ms. Badu was at it again this past weekend, rocking a dope show at the Greek Theater on Father’s Day. Don’t know why I waited so long to see her perform but she is definitely one of the great talents of our generation who is best appreciated live. Although the show’s focus was centered around songs from her new album “New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh” she made sure to cover great material from her previous albums with ill renditions from her tour band Neda Stela. Everything was creative and fresh, from hearing the joint “…& On” (Mama’s Gun) over the bands cover of Tribe’s “Electric Relaxation” to Badu herself jumping on the MPC and drumming a Bambatta piece. Her “Out of My Mind, Just in Time” tour has just a few more stops in the states before heading oversees, peep her site for more details. Other acts include Janelle Monae & Lupe Fiasco.

Levi’s recently embarked on a musical revival project aimed at taking some premiere artists and having them remake classic songs of their choice. This week courtesy of the “Levi’s Pioneer Sessions” comes a remake of the Spinner’s classic “It’s A Shame” co-authored by the legendary Stevie Wonder. Not all artists can pull off covers of classic songs and entice that same feeling that the song was meant to capture but I think Saadiq was a great compliment to the remake. Looking forward to hearing more songs from this project that Levi’s has put together which will include songs from Nas (Hey Young World), John Legend and The Roots, The Kills and many more.
